Welcome to The Compact Clinic
We are very sad to inform you that in January 2022 Geoff passed away. Geoff had a passion for restoring and repairing compacts, something he did right up until his passing. Therefore, we are no longer able to take on any further compact repairs. However, we will continue to sell the compacts listed on the site.
Hi, I'm Geoff Craven - in the late 1990s my wife began collecting vintage powder compacts at Antique Fairs and found several examples with broken mirrors, damaged hinges etc, which she was therefore reluctant to purchase.
As a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, this presented a challenge, and over the next year or two, prior to retirement from my engineering business, I acquired the necessary equipment and supplies to do these repairs.

Through my wife’s membership of the British Compact Collectors' Society the word began to spread and I discovered that this was in fact a common problem and other members and dealers began to send in their compacts for repair.
The Compact Clinic now appears on several other related websites and as a result our services are in regular demand at home and overseas.
My aim is to provide quality workmanship at affordable prices in order to keep these vintage items, many of which are fine examples of engineering design, available to collectors worldwide in the best condition, as it is important to preserve these lovely examples of social history.
I am always pleased to hear from anyone who needs help in restoration - please click here for contact details.
